Julián Castro has decided to throw in the towel when it comes to his bid for the 2020 democratic presidential nomination.

The former San Antonio mayor and Housing Secretary in the Obama administration, Castro announced his decision in a video posted to Twitter Thursday.

Castro was another democratic candidate who failed to gain any type of sustainable traction amongst a large field of candidates. After the first debate, Castro was seen as a standout candidate given the talking points he presented despite the limited television exposure.

However, as his campaign went on, Castro continued to be looked over which affected his ability to raise funds thus eliminating him from participating in the November and December debates.

Not that anyone here was a fan of Castro, his drop out from the field (like Kamala Harris – again despite no one here being a fan of hers) is troubling when you juxtapose it to the campaigns of billionaires Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg. Both (Steyer and Bloomberg) were able to enter the democratic field extremely late but have managed to stay around given their billionaire status and ability to spend massive amounts of money on advertisements. With that said the American political landscape continues to be one that favors the elite class who will likely continue to favor as such while in power.
