Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is clearly not having any of the moderate Dem bullshit that eminating from Capitol Hill in the wake of the Party’s down-ballot failures from last week.
Notably, AOC took aim at West Virginia democratic senator Joe Manchin who like his moderate counterparts in the party decried progressive policies as “socialist” while linking to a Washington Examiner article to cite his opposition to ending the filibuster and defunding the police.
Manchin said:
“Defund the police? Defund, my butt. I’m a proud West Virginia Democrat. We are the party of working men and women. We want to protect Americans’ jobs & healthcare. We do not have some crazy socialist agenda, and we do not believe in defunding the police”
AOC responded with a tweet of her glaring at the Senator during the State of the Union.
Again, Manchin is one of many corporate, centrist Dems which include Abigail Spanberger and James Clyburn who are growing more and more out of touch with the wants and needs of the American people, seemingly being more in favor of lining their own pockets with the cash of big corporate donors.
Nonetheless, whatever you think of the American electoral system and its failures in the face of the American public, AOC’s growing resistance to centrist lies and bullshit is certainly welcomed and needed on the inside of the democratic party. Especially when progressive policies like Medicare for All are becoming more and more popular with the people while moderate incrementalism is becoming more of a liability.
Also, Dems defaming “socialism” like some right-wing chud is getting old, especially when they do an excellent job displaying that they have no fucking clue what socialism actually is.
