White House communications director and one of Donald Trump‘s longest serving aides Hope Hicks announced Wednesday that she has turned in her resignation and plans to leave the administration in the coming weeks according to the New York Times.

Hicks’ decision comes after a nearly eight hour testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee where she told investigators that as part of her position she had occasionally told ‘white lies’ but never lied about anything pertaining to the ongoing Russian investigation.

New York Times:

“Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years,” Mr. Trump said. “She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side, but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future.”

Coincidently I suppose, Hicks has told staffers in the weeks prior to yesterday’s testimony that she was planning to leave her position citing that she had ‘accomplished what she could with a job that made her one of the most powerful people in Washington’ the NYT reports.

The fourth and longest tenured White House communications director Hicks followed a line of chaotic former heads of Trump’s communications team that included Sean Spicer, Michael Dubke and Anthony Scaramucci.
