Capitalism continues to be a complete disaster in the wake of natural disasters

Capitalism is rotten to its core.

The remnants of Hurricane Helene have ravaged the southeast of the United States with heavy rains and flood waters destroying crops and homes. This has left people in some cases homeless and desperate to provide their families with everyday supplies like food, water, sanitary products, and if you have kids, formula and diapers.

In the tweet above from the user @RaffeyEl, a resident of Black Mountain, North Carolina, we can further witness just how rotten capitalism is, especially in the wake of natural disasters. Raffy, along with other residents of Black Mountain, are simply trying to purchase living supplies like formula and diapers — but instead are turned away by police who are guarding what is more than likely a fully stocked store.

The state protecting the interests of capital though is nothing new in the United States. After natural disasters or instances of injustice, police and useful idiots of the state are quick to show more sympathy for a Target store or in this case Ingles than desperate citizens looking to survive. Meanwhile, the U.S. government will continue to send billions of dollars in arms to Israel as they continue their genocidal campaign in the Middle East or Ukraine in a proxy war against Russia.
