Tuesday, Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey amid the Bureau’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s connections to Russian meddling in the election and in the wake of Comey testifying in front of congress on the same issues.
Here’s the letter sent to Comey by Trump as the FBI director learned on television that he was being relieved of his Bureau post:

The second paragraph which caught everyone’s attention Trump states that “while I greatly appreciate you informing me on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation…”. Trump continued to try to potentially cover his tracks by claiming the reason for Comey’s dismissal was due to defying protocol in the midst of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
Via Jezebel:
On Tuesday, the Office of the Deputy Attorney General said that Comey defied protocol throughout the investigation. “The way the Director handled the conclusion of the investigation of the emails was wrong,” the memo reads. “As a result, the FBI is unlikely to regain public and congressional trust until it has a Director who understands the gravity of the mistakes to never repeat them. Having refused to admit his errors, the Director cannot be expected to implement the necessary corrective actions.”
What’s clear is not many people are buying the Trump administration’s bullshit when it comes to his supposed reasoning for dismissing Comey. No reasonably thinking person can actually believe that Trump is dismissing Comey because of any negative way he handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation. I mean wasn’t it Trump who was at one time praising the way Comey reopened the investigation into the Clinton email server just a week prior to the election?
Everyone is eluding to, and for good reason Trump trying to eliminate those within government who are actively investigating his campaign’s ties to the Kremlin. Because if Trump was actually concerned about the way Comey conducted himself last summer wouldn’t he have fired the FBI director on January 20th as opposed to May 9th? Not to mention the roots of his firing lying within Attorney General Jeff Sessions who was supposed to recuse himself from the Russian investigation due to his own ties to the case.
