Yesterday’s backtrack by Donald Trump and the White House was highlighted by a misunderstanding of a ‘double-negative’, notably the word ‘would’ and ‘wouldn’t’. That came in regards to Trump saying that he has no reason to believe why Russia would meddle in the U.S. election. Given the disaster and embarrassment of that statement, Trump and the White House further embarrassed themselves with an asinine explanation nearly 24-hours after it was said.
Today’s backtracking proved to be maybe just as asinine.
While answering questions today at the White House, ABC News correspondent Cecilia Vega asked a very direct question to the President; does he believe Russia is still ‘targeting the U.S.”?
Without hesitation, Trump responded with a ‘thank you very much’ and ‘no’.
Just asked @realDonaldTrump if he believes Russia is still targeting the US.
His answer: "Thank you very much. No"
This after his own Director of National Intelligence said the threat is still ongoing.— Cecilia Vega (@CeciliaVega) July 18, 2018
And there’s even video!

However as the White House has their ongoing damage control seemingly in high gear as the President simply can’t stay out of his own way, Sarah Sanders took to the podium just hours after Trump’s ‘no’ statement and in typical Baghdad Barbara fashion gave her comedic explanation.
Trump wasn’t saying ‘no’ to the question… he was saying ‘no’ to answering any further questions.
BREAKING: Sarah Sanders just backtracked on Trump saying “no” earlier today about whether or not Russia is still interfering with our elections. Watch as she sounds like a complete lunatic! pic.twitter.com/UxUClNy5KI

Are. You. Fucking. Kidding. Me?!
Not only did Trump absolutely answer ‘no’ to Vega’s question as this administration continues to take the American people for complete fucking fools. Trump once again threw the intel community under the bus as Dan Coats continues to maintain – and for good reason – that Russia is still trying to target the United States under the direction of Vladimir Putin.
The spin cycle of this administration is simply amazing.
