With Kyle Rittenhouse being announced as a featured guest at Shell Shock in Orlando, Florida on October 19th at Level 13 Entertainment Center, North Florida metalcore outfit Evergreen Terrace has pulled out of the event.
Along with SouthpawFLHC and American Hollow, Evergreen Terrace was set to be a headliner for the event which describes itself as a “PTSD charity & awareness event” put on by The Anti Hero Podcast to raise money for the C.A.T. II Foundation. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds was to benefit military veterans and first responders struggling with PTSD.
Evergreen Terrace posted the following on Instagram after learning of Rittenhouse’s involvement:
Evergreen Terrace has always supported and continues to support philanthropic events for veterans, PTSD awareness, child poverty, and many more, but we will not align with an event promoting a perceived murderer such as Kyle Rittenhouse capitalizing off of their pseudo celebrity. Unfortunately we did not do our due diligence with this particular event. Even after they offered to pull Kyle from the event, we discovered several associated entities that we simply do not agree with. As advocates for free speech we are respectfully canceling the Shell Shock festival. We will be personally contributing to a veterans charity and urge you to do the same. The promoters have been nothing less than understanding.
“Lines we draw in the sand…depend on where we stand.”
See you soon, Orlando.
Since word got out on Rittenhouse, Shell Shock organizers have scrubbed social media of any posts related to the far-right figurehead who became famous for killing protesters in Wisconsin during the George Floyd protests. However, removing any mention of Rittenhouse hasn’t stopped acts from pulling out of Shell Shock and it’s unclear if Rittenhouse will continue to have any involvement in the event.
