House intel republicans are reportedly shutting down their investigation in the Russia/Trump collusion probe. This also includes taking things a step further declaring that not only could they find no evidence that Trump and Russia colluded in the 2016 Presidential Election but they also have found no evidence that Russia took it upon themselves to meddle in the 2016 Presidential Election. This news comes despite the Intelligence Community agreeing that Russia did in fact meddle in the 2016 election and special counsel Robert Mueller expanding his probe into the Trump campaign’s potential involvement with the Kremlin during the 2016 election and any possible obstruction of justice instances that occurred in the aftermath.

Via CNN.com:

Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee announced Monday they found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia and that they are shutting down their yearlong investigation.

The committee’s Republicans are also disagreeing with the intelligence community’s assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin was trying to help the Trump campaign over Hillary Clinton, a notion that aligns with President Donald Trump’s viewpoint on election meddling.
The conclusions will be met with sharp disagreement from Democrats and are bound to inflame partisan tensions on a committee that’s been beleaguered by partisanship throughout the course of its Russia probe.
Likewise this obviously isn’t sitting well with Democrats who say the Republicans who control the committee haven’t investigated all avenues into the probe including subpoenaing potential witnesses or documents that could be vital to the investigation.
Keep in mind, this is the same committee that didn’t interview Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, George Papadopoulos or other key players and documents who have been at the forefront of the Mueller investigation. It’s also the same committee that was headed by Devin Nunes who sprinted to the White House for a late night meeting with Donald Trump, potentially informing him on the happenings with the investigation which ultimately caused himself to recuse himself.
In addition, it’s expected that House Republicans in their report will call the 2016 Trump Tower meeting where high ranking Trump officials were promised ‘dirt’ on Hillary Clinton ‘ill-advised’ and that Russia tried to sow discourse in the 2016 presidential election but that it wasn’t done in an effort to get one candidate elected over the other.
Huh? Wouldn’t that be election meddling? And wouldn’t it be criminal that the U.S. government isn’t taking the necessary steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again? Especially with a pivotal midterm election coming up this November?
The bottom line… This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
