Israel continues to bomb Gaza and Lebanon on the October 7 anniversary

On the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 Palestinian resistance, Israeli occupational forces carried out more indiscriminate bombings in Gaza and Lebanon throughout the weekend, resulting in the deaths of dozens of people as the apartheid state continues to operate with total impunity. Israeli air strikes in Lebanon targeted civilian infastructure including hospitals, the suburbs of south Beirut, ancnient historical ruins (which ironically enough ISIS and the Taliban were rightfully dragged for), and a border crossing with Syria. Meanwhile, the Israeli air force also continued to conduct strikes inside another sovereign country in Syria as well as the occupied West Bank, as an IDF unit has reportedly threatened Irish peacekeepers in southern Lebanon.

Israel’s military has ordered hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to evacuate their homes or face death, as it launches a fresh ground offensive in the northern Gaza Strip. The latest mass evacuation order came on the first anniversary of the start of Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza following Hamas’s surprise attack on October 7. Over the weekend, at least 26 Palestinians were killed after Israeli forces attacked a mosque and a school sheltering displaced people in Deir al-Balah. Elsewhere, at least nine children were among 17 people killed when Israel’s military bombed the Jabaliya refugee camp. Many residents were unable or unwilling to leave their homes.

Since October 7, Israel has murdered 42,000 people in Gaza, with the actual number of deaths said to be several times higher. This has been said by Benjamin Netanyahu’s own cabinet members as the Israeli Prime Minister has continued to sabotage peace talks while attempting to goad Iran into a more widespread war. This included additional war crimes by Netanyahu such as the pager attacks in Lebanon that wounded and killed thousands of people as well as the assisination of Hamas leader and chief peace negotiator Ismail Haniyeh in Iran and Hezbollah General Secretary Hassan Nasrallah.

Meanwhile, the United States continues to fund and support Israel’s mass murder in the region by continuing to arm Netanyahu’s genocidal intentions, as Biden has done virtually nothing to try and curtail the death and devastation.
