Attorney general Jeff Sessions has created another shit storm this afternoon after degrading a federal judge and amazingly – even for anyone involved with Donald Trump – mitigated an entire state.
White discussing the latest federal judge to block Trump’s second attempt and a slightly more sugar coated Muslim Ban, Sessions said he was “…amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the President of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power”.
That ‘island in the Pacific’ is of course Hawaii.
Granted, Hawaii is actually an island sitting in the Pacific, so Sessions is right in that observation. Good job. However that island sitting in the Pacific is actually the 50th state in the Union and that federal judge – Derrick Watson – was, get this… confirmed by the U.S. Senate in a vote of 94-0 which means Sessions himself supported his nomination.
FYI Jeff Sessions voted to confirm Derrick Watson, the federal judge he's now attacking as "a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific". pic.twitter.com/kfeL4ZoKrP

Sessions, obviously got some much deserved backlash from his obviously maligned comments towards Hawaii and Judge Watson.
Someone please tell Sessions that Hawaii is a state. An American in Hawaii is as American as one from Alabama. Or Indiana. https://t.co/kZb43EmCFp

Hey Jeff Sessions, this #IslandinthePacific has been the 50th state for going on 58 years. And we won’t succumb to your dog whistle politics

Hawaii was built on the strength of diversity & immigrant experiences- including my own. Jeff Sessions’ comments are ignorant & dangerous

Mr. Attorney General: You voted for that judge. And that island is called Oahu. It's my home. Have some respect. https://t.co/sW9z3vqBqG

Anyways, the Department of Justice tried to justify the AG’s comments by making mention that his granddaughter was born there. I mean that’s basically the same type of logic some closet racist would use when trying to justify their use of the ‘n-word’. ‘Hey I have a lot of black friends’.

The DOJ also seems to forget there are checks and balances in the United State’s which are put in place to prevent – in this case some orange lunatic – from imposing his will on others.
