In a reality for the Biden campaign, USA Today reported the president’s declining support among Black and Latino voters, highlighting the recent gains made by former president Donald Trump and third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who seem to have attracted former Democratic voters.
In a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll, Biden’s failure to consolidate support in key parts of the coalition that elected him in 2020 has left him narrowly trailing Trump, the likely Republican nominee, 39%-37%; 17% support an unnamed third-party candidate.
When seven candidates are specified by name, Trump’s lead inches up to 3 percentage points, 37%-34%, with independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the top of the third-party candidates at 10%.

Adding to the political landscape, Muslim American leaders have initiated a growing protest campaign against President Biden due to his involvement in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Known as the #AbandonBiden campaign, it strategically targets swing states, notably Michigan which has one of the largest Arab populations outside the Middle East posing a potential threat to his chances at a second presidential term in 2024.
Last month, Biden also went around Congress to approve an emergency weapons sale to Israel’s occupation government. This also comes amid increasing international scrutiny over the ongoing genocide which has resulted in the deaths of 22,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 8, 2023. All of this too while failing to deliver actual material support to struggling working class individuals.
Despite pundits highlighting positive economic indicators from the White House, many Americans continue to face challenges such as unaffordable housing, soaring medical costs, glaring inequality, and the termination of short-lived pandemic-era welfare benefits which disproportionately affect black and brown communities in the United States. Any foreign policy wins for the Biden administration like the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan have seemingly been lost given his hawkish foreign policy, marked by genocidal bloodshed, and his willingness to appease Republicans on border policies in exchange for funding for Ukraine and Israel.
As we approach November, die-hard liberals who prioritize party loyalty will likely emerge and dismiss any criticism of Biden as a tactic of Trump supporters. You can also expect them to highlight the 2024 election as “the most important election of our lives”.
