House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced Tuesday that the House would open an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden despite mentioning in the past that an impeachment inquiry would need a House vote.
McCarthy still has this tweet displayed on his account…
Moving forward with this opens up subpoena powers for the GOP within the House ahead of what’s shaping up to be a historical presidential campaign season in which the Republican front-runner Donald Trump will more than likely be embroiled in multiple criminal trials. Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.), Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.) are expected to oversee the GOP efforts in the House into Joe and Hunter Biden’s dealings which McCarthy called the “logical next step” that will “give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public.”
As impeachment has become more of a tit-for-tat instead of dealing with the actual substance of presidents doing shit jobs there’s a chance this all blows up in face of McCarthy.
Republicans in the House and the Senate have already gone on record saying they haven’t seen enough evidence to impeach with Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) saying on Tuesday that as of now I don’t support” an impeachment inquiry. Bacon added that impeachment “should be based on evidence of a crime that points directly to President Biden, or if the President doesn’t cooperate by not providing documents.”
As much as we hate to personally agree with Christie in the above clip he has a point. Although the premise is something we most certainly wouldn’t agree on given his role as a government stooge and establishment politician. That’s also not to say that Trump shouldn’t have gotten impeached before for trying to overthrow an election, he most certainly should have. But if we’re launching probes into shady shit to the extent of what Joe and Hunter Biden may have done then how many other presidents would’ve gotten impeached for something morally similar in the past?
