Disney shareholders where jumping at the opportunity Friday to move one step closer in securing the purchase of 21st Century Fox opening up the door for some major monetary possibilities for the Mouse. In fact 99 percent of Disney shareholders approved the merger which just goes to show what exactly is at stake in the $71.3 million dollar deal that ultimately won the Fox sweepstakes.

So now Disney owns an even bigger chunk of the entertainment world as geeks across the globe wonder what could be on the horizon for the Marvel movie universe?

Prior to the anticipated merger, the Marvel movie universe was essentially split in two with the X-Men, Deadpool and Fantastic Four residing with Fox while Spiderman and Captain America sat on the Disney side of things.

Offhand this seems like a good thing. Perhaps Disney won’t hesitate in finally producing a Deadpool and Wolverine movie where we get to see Logan chop off the head of Deadpool over and over again. Or maybe we get some Spiderman and X-Men crossover as nerds across the country begin to mess their pants as the possibilities with that.

On the downside will Disney fuck this up from a creativity standpoint?

I mean let’s be real, the new Star Wars trilogy has been pretty underwhelming. JJ Abrams has singlehandedly took a dump on the new trilogy by simply repackaging the original with worse characters who seemingly have zero connection with George Lucas’ original vision. The blueprints were already there but Abrams and Disney decided to go in their own convoluted direction with the story that just isn’t as interesting.

Then there’s the reality that fans will no longer be able to see Princess Leia, Han Solo, Luke and Lando Calrissian all in the same scene together.

Anyways, how does Disney not fuck up the Marvel cinematic universe? Here’s some of our suggestions:

  • No X-Men reboots. It’s already been done but you know Disney probably itching for their Wolverine origin story. Please don’t do it.
  • X-Men movies aren’t going to end, the’s a given. On that note, DO NOT change-up any of the actors. It’s pretty much been perfect from the start.
  • Speaking of actors, you can’t change-up the actors who play Deadpool in the same sense that we’ve seen the role change with Spiderman. Ryan Reynolds was born for the part and there’s no one else suitable for the part.
  • And speaking of Deadpool, Disney grow some balls, cut the family shit and continue the Deadpool franchise. It’s without a doubt one of the best things going in the super hero movie world.
  • You can start from scratch with the Fantastic Four.
  • Like we previously mentioned, don’t hesitate for those crossovers. The Marvel cinematic world NEEDS Spiderman, the X-Men and Deadpool to cross paths.
  • If you’re feeling real frisky, you could do a Star Wars and Marvel cross over. Just sayin…
  • On that note, don’t sacrifice creativity because you think there’s nothing else out there. Superman, Batman and the Justice League is still a thing out there.

There’s more but I can go on-and-on about the fanatical portion of this whole thing. In the real world, the merger is expected to result in massive job losses to the tune of 5,000 on both sides which is certainly the most depressing thing about the acquisition. You hope though if this is done right and creativity isn’t sacrificed that the merger is a huge success that ultimately results in more job creation and some kick ass movies.
