Former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been sentenced by Alexandria, Virginia federal judge T.S. Ellis to just 47 months in prison.
Manafort, who entered the courtroom in a green jumpsuit and in a wheelchair received a small fraction of the 25 years suggested by prosecutors for defrauding banks and failing to pay taxes on millions of dollars in income he earned from overseas consulting.
The 69-year-old was also ordered to pay restitution by the Judge and will have three years of supervised release. However, Manafort will still be sentenced by a DC judge next week for further crimes.
It’s unclear how tonight’s sentence will impact next week’s pending sentence.
