So Spider-Man is staying in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all.
Friday, Disney and Sony announced a deal that would keep Spider-Man in the MCU after the two companies previously failed to come to a deal regarding profit sharing.
According to the deal, Disney will receive 25 percent of Spider-Man 3 profits which will see Tom Holland reprise the role in the next upcoming stand-alone Spidey film set to hit theaters in 2021. The deal will also enable Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in at least one more MCU film feature film so the hope of seeing some Spider-Man/Wolverine movie is still alive.
Anyways, aside from receiving 25-percent of the profits from Spider-Man 3, Disney will also be responsible for responsible for forking over the cash to pay for roughly a quarter of the production costs.
