Despite getting his ass kicked last night in a series of primaries, Ted Cruz is moving forward with naming formal GOP rival Carly Fiorina as his vice presidential running mate.

An official announcement from the Cruz campaign is expected to come at 4PM ET today.
The announcement is nonetheless strategic after the Texas senator was mathematically eliminated during the Tuesday night primaries. As of Wednesday Cruz has 560 delegates with 622 still at stake (including 109 unpledged delegates). Even if Cruz won every remaining delegate still available he’d still fall short of the 1,237 needed to gain the GOP nomination.
More to come as it develops.
