It wouldn’t be campaign season without massive hacking attempts on the duopoly.
After news broke over the weekend that the Trump Campaign was hacked with a 200-plus page dossier on JD Vance taken, the FBI is also taking a look at whether that same hacking attempt also targeted President Joe Biden and Vice President and presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
The FBI has confirmed it is investigating the alleged hacking of Donald Trump’s campaign in a probe that reportedly also includes attempts to gain access to the email accounts of officials in the former presidential campaign of Joe Biden and his then-running mate Kamala Harris.
An FBI spokesperson acknowledged the law enforcement agency’s involvement Monday, but declined to elaborate on the scope of the investigation or any suspects. However, a report issued last week by Microsoft said that Iranian hackers sent a “spear phishing email” to an official with an unnamed presidential campaign.
Unlike the Trump campaign which the hackers seemed to be successful at gaining access to using the “spear phishing email”, it’s unclear whether those same attempts were successful with Biden and Harris. According to the New York Times, the FBI has been investigating hacking attempts to gain access to Presidential Campaigns since June and suspects Iran as being the culprit. Because the United States needs to continue to scapegoat just in case there’s a wider-ranging conflict they need to warm the American public up to. In 2016 it was the Russians and now it’s Iran, just like clockwork.
